REAR SEAT DELETE kits
In 2001, Steve Shrader began building and selling his own product line of Rear Seat Delete Kits for Mustangs, hand-building every kit from his small 2-car garage in NC. Eventually that operation expanded to the point of needing a much larger shop and staff to build and store inventory. The list of vehicles has grown now to include Mustang, Camaro, GTO, Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Subaru BRZ, Toyota GR86, Scion IQ, and more. We focus on 2-door cars with 4 seats, as we have found that most 2-door cars have rear seats that are nearly useless for carrying passengers or cargo. We are the only manufacturer to use carpeted molded ABS Plastic instead of wood products which allows us to create a high quality durable product. Our goal is to provide increased performance by dropping weight, while retaining a high level of style and convenience in the interior. Some kits drop over 50 lbs net from the car just by installing our seat delete kit! Although they look like a large piece of foam, most seat structures have a sturdy metal or plastic structure to support the weight of humans. There are no warning lights that will appear with our products, and actually increase safety by reducing the number of people in the vehicle. Less warm bodies is less distractions, and more visibility out of the car in most cases.
Yellow Mustang Registry
Steve Shrader was the original creator over 2 decades ago for the Yellow Mustang Registry (also known as YMR), which was the first known Mustang club dedicated to a specific and rare color (at the time)vehicle, that grew to over 10,000 members worldwide. We handed over the YMR to new owners way back in 2006 so that we could concentrate on our business and products, but the club still goes strong today. Several other “color registries” were created following the success of the original YMR. Most folks today don’t realize the origins of the color registries dates back to 2001 when we pioneered the entire concept of grouping by colors and setup nationwide car meets for yellow Mustang owners. Back in the early 2000’s yellow was a limited production color for the Mustang, and finding another one on the road was super cool between owners. Anybody could get a black, white, or red car, but that yellow, love it or hate it, was sure to catch your eye everywhere.
Company Structure
As of 2024, we have restructured our company format, and all rear seat delete products are sold under the Shrader Designs LLC brand instead of the previous Shrader Performance Inc company. “Shrader Performance” and “Shrader Tuning” still represents our Ford Mustang tuning and performance shop, but to keep our manufacturing process separated, we now have 2 different companies to handle the different functions.
